Delicate miniature wraths make beautiful presents in themselves. Make a simple heart shape from florist's wire and decorate with any flowers you have at hand. Pierce rosebuds with a needle, and thread onto the wire. Glue rose petals onto a wire heart and decorate the top with flowers. For a large heart, make small bunches of grasses, flowers and leaves and tie onto the heart with more wire.
Most florists have a large selection of dried flowers, and they can advise on which fresh flowers dry well - roses, hydrangeas, lavender, bay leaves and sunflowers are just a few examples. Look out for unusual boxes and baskets made in natural materials such as cane and willow. Flowers not only make wonderful, long lasting gifts, but they also smell delicious.
